The Sustainability Book Club Network

Welcome to GreenLeaves!

At GreenLeaves we are committed to creating a sustainable world together. We discuss different themes related to sustainability and help each other put what we learn into action. Featured books provide members with the option of exploring these ideas in more depth. We're also forming local sustainability clubs to meet, talk, and undertake actions together in person. Featured Book: What We're Reading Right Now

During April and May we're enriching our discussion with a reading of Deep Economy: The Wealth of Communities and the Durable Future by Bill McKibben. The book makes a compelling case for moving beyond “growth” as the paramount economic ideal and pursuing prosperity in a more local direction, with regions producing more of their own food, generating more of their own energy, and even creating more of their own culture. Bill has generously agreed to answer questions from GreenLeaves members. You can discuss the book and ask questions for Bill here.

Buying Local

Does anyone know of stores in SF (and other cities) that truly promote local purchases - not just produce but clothing, furniture etc.? Is there a list anywhere?
