Here is a link that I found very helpful in finding a CSA farm near San Francisco. Use it to locate CSA farms near you! Its a great resource. Begin enjoying the bounty and connection with the land once again that Bill McKibben so eloquently describes in Deep Economy.
Tell me about your experience! I would love to hear the good and the bad.
I did a CSA last summer and it was a pretty nice experience. On the plus side, I liked that I was surprised weekly by what was in my box and finding ways to cook veggies I had never worked with before. What I didn't like about it was pretty much the same thing- I was often stuck with stuff I didn't feel like cooking, and I found there was a bit of waste. I decided to not do a CSA this year but instead frequent farmers markets and farm stands a few times a week to buy fresh produce I know I will use.
Thanks Elizabeth. I'm assuming it was less expensive for you overall to do the CSA thing than going to the farmer's market. Is that a correct assumption?
The CSA was definitely not pricey since we only did a half share...and I DO tend to over shop at farmer's markets coz everything looks so good...I will have to see after this summer how the prices differ.
